Each stove is individually rated for the amount of space that it can actually heat. Most can heat up to 1800 square feet. That is the average square footage for a 3 bedroom home. The stoves are also designed to be energy efficient, and are rated according to how well they perform in that area.
Gas appliances have always made me nervous. I have never liked the idea of an open flame in my home. One feature that I find to be very comforting in the new gas stoves is that, the pilot light is not on when the stove is not in use.
